BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Long Beach State earned a weekend split of Big West road matches with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 sweep at Cal State Bakersfield.

Junior Madi Maxwell opened the second set with an ace, part of a 7-1 run from the start of the set. The Beach maintained at least a 4-point lead the rest of the way in another 25-18 win. Five different hitters registered multiple kills in the second set, led by Maxwell and Reagan Hope with 3 kills each in the set.
A Kendal Murphy ace punctuated an early 4-0 run to start the third set, but Cal State Bakersfield pulled even several times midway through the set. The third set featured 9 tie scores, the last coming at 16-16, before a Roadrunner attack error helped spark the Beach to an 8-0 burst and set up match point with a 24-16 edge. Bakersfield cut into the lead with 3 straight points, but Hamaker put away her 12th kill of the match to close out the 25-19 win.
