The junior scored with 15 seconds left as the Beach finished the tournament in seventh place.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – After seeing a two-goal lead slip away with 44 seconds left, No. 7 Long Beach State found a thrilling win over No. 13 Loyola Marymount with 15 seconds left on a shot from junior Marc Frigola to take the win and finish in seventh place at the Overnght MPSF Invite with a 12-11 victory over the Lions.

Long Beach State (9-4) started the game with sophomore Gabi Acosta adding a quick goal. LMU (4-5) tied the game, and freshman Zalan Nagy put LBSU ahead 2-1 after the first eight minutes.

The Lions scored two straight goals to take the lead early in the second. Harper Stewart's counterattack tied the game, 3-3, before both teams traded goals as Toring Stanley tied the game once again, 4-4, at the half. Goalkeeper William Whitstone kept the defense going with eight saves in the first half.

The third period saw a lot of action on both sides, with Frigola scoring his first of the day to put Long Beach State in the lead once again. Tied at six, the Beach went on a 3-0 run behind Acosta's two goals and Nagy's second of the day to open a 9-6 lead. A late goal by the Lions closed the third quarter with LBSU up, 9-7.

LMU found a quick goal to shorten the Beach lead, but Nagy's hat trick kept it at a two-goal difference. Finding ways to keep the game close, Loyola Marymount scored another, and Corbin Stanley got on the scoresheet to keep the advantage for the Beach. LMU tied the game after back-to-back goals with 44 seconds left. With 15 seconds remaining, Frigola fired one into the net to give the Beach another thrilling win at the Overnght MPSF Invite, 12-11, and seventh place in the tournament.

The Beach will be back in action on October 3 when they host No. 12 Pepperdine (7-4) at the LBCC Aquatics Complex.
