Four Beach players netted hat tricks.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Led by senior Toring Stanley with three goals and five assists, No. 7 Long Beach State opened a five-goal lead early in the first quarter and controlled the game to win their first match at home, defeating Harvard 23-13.

Freshman Zalán Nagy opened things for Long Beach State (7-2) early in the first, followed by a goal from center Gabi Acosta, leading 2-0. Harvard (4-5) answered back to cut the lead, but back-to-back goals by Acosta and Toring Stanley kept the Beach up by three with under five minutes left. The Crimson found the back of the net on a power play, and goals from Alec Johnson and Harper Stewart extended the Beach lead to 6-2. Harvard added another one as Acosta completed his hat trick of the day, and Long Beach State led 8-3 after the first.

Sophomore Olivér Sudár scored his first collegiate goal to open the second quarter for Long Beach State. Both teams traded goals as Caleb Francisco added his first of the day to extend the lead to 11-5 with 3:33 left. Harvard went on a 3-0 run to close the second quarter and shorten the gap to 11-8 at halftime.

The Beach scored two goals to open a five-goal lead with Marc Frigola and Stewart, but the Crimson answered back quickly with another power play goal as LBSU led 13-9. Sophomore Artur Diaz added one to the tally as both teams continued to trade goals. A late goal by Corbin Stanley gave the Beach a 16-10 lead before Harvard added one with ten seconds left to shorten the margin.

Francisco's back-to-back goals controlled the start of the last quarter. Harvard answered, but a four-goal run gave Long Beach State control of the game, leading 22-12 with three minutes left. The Crimson added one to the scoresheet, and Jovan Mandic scored a buzzer-beater as LBSU took their first home win of the season over Harvard, 23-13.
