BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  Long Beach State clinched a spot in the 2025 Hercules Tires Big West Basketball Championships, presented by Credit Union 1, Thursday night as the Beach defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 82-70 in the Icardo Center.

The Roadrunners led, but a 12-0 LBSU run that featured Jada Crawshaw sinking a pair of three-pointers put the Beach up 16-8. The 'Runners answered with two quick baskets before Lovely Sonnier found JaQuoia Jones-Brown open for a layup. Savannah Tucker closed the period with a layup to give the Beach a 20-14 advantage at the end of the opening frame.

Jones-Brown's back-to-back baskets extended the Long Beach State lead to start the second period to 25-16. Patricia Chung and Tucker hit threes to extend the LBSU lead to 31-20 at the media timeout. Cal State Bakersfield started the second half with a 12-2 run to cut the Beach lead to 52-41. Crawshaw stopped the run, but back-to-back baskets kept Bakersfield within reach. Chung found Rachel Loobie to open the fourth quarter with a basket. The field goal keyed a 10-1 spurt that put the Beach up 72-55.
