Beach Dominates Lincoln In Professional 113-66 Win

12/30/2025 9:33:00 PM | Men's Basketball

The 113 points was the most scored by Long Beach State since 2018.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State got contributions through the lineup in a comprehensive win over Lincoln, winning 113-66 to close non-conference play.

Five players finished in double-figures for Long Beach State (4-10) in a dominant offensive performance. The Beach finished with a season-high 31 assists with just 10 turnovers, shot over 60 percent for the first time since 2012 and scored 113 total points, the most in a game since 124 against Bethesda in 2018.

Freshman Gavin Sykes led the way with 21 points, while Petar Majstorovic, Cole Farrell and Shaquil Bender each added 16 and Isaiah Lewis chipped in 12. Rob Diaz III, in his first start of the season, scored seven points with five rebounds and made a season-high eight assists with just one turnover.

Diaz III led the way in scoring early for the Beach, but Lincoln (2-6) hung around, even taking the lead at 12-11 on a driving layup from Brandon Williams after the first five minutes of play. Sykes found Majstorovic for a dunk inside to quickly swing the momentum, kicking off a 9-0 run for the Beach and LBSU never looked back.

Leading by 17 at halftime, the Beach were challenged to improve defensively and did just that in the second half. After allowing 50% shooting by the Oaklanders in the first half, led by Laolu Kalajaiye who finished with 25 points, the Beach responded by holding Lincoln to just 28 points on 28.1% shooting the second half to pull away to a 47-point win, with a margin that was as high as 55 in the closing minutes.

Long Beach State controlled the game from the inside, scoring 78 points in the pain and winning the rebounding battle 43 to 24 on the evening while getting 48 points off of the bench as every player who saw time scored at least five points.

Tuesday's win closes both non-conference play and the 2025 calendar year for the Beach, who will resume Big West play on Saturday, hosting Cal Poly in the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid on ESPN+ at 6 p.m.
