The Beach then took a late lead after another scramble with their other libero Izzy Mahaffey leading the way. Sheffie and Anabel Kotzakov picked up a block for a 22-21 lead, but Hawai'i responded with a sideout and a pair of Cha'lei Reid kills on the way to a 25-23 second-set win.
The third set was just as tight. Tied 7-7, a Long Beach State sideout followed by back-to-back blocks gave the Beach a 10-7 lead. Another block, with Nieko Thomas involved in all three, put the Beach on top 12-8. With the Beach on top 16-13, Hawai'i scored three straight to tie the set at 16-16 and then another to grab the service advantage. Each team would side out until Natalie Reagan won a critical challenge as Madi Maxwell picked up a touch on a swing for a 23-22 lead, and then Tatum Hoff finished off the set 25-23 with an ace.
