Jada Crawshaw had a double-double and Savannah Tucker’s 24 points led the Beach on offense.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – A strong second half by the Beach behind 47.4 percent shooting from Long Beach State led LBSU to a comeback win over CSUN. Savannah Tucker led the Beach with 24 points and Jada Crawshaw double-double helped the Beach secure another conference win.

A quick basket from Rachel Loobie got Long Beach State (11-6, 7-1 Big West) on the board first, but a nine-point run from CSUN (3-14, 1-7) gave the Matadors the early lead. The Matadors shot 46.7 percent in the first quarter to extend their lead to nine points, but Savannah Tucker's eight points at the end of the first cut the lead to three as the Matadors led 19-16.

CSUN opened the second quarter with a 3-point basket. JaQuoia Jones-Brown scored her first bucker of the game to cut CSUN's lead to four. The Matadors led by 15 with 2:50 left in the second quarter after a 10-0 run. The Beach got on the board after over two minutes to head into the half trailing 45-32.

Down ten at 49-39, an 8-0 run for Long Beach State sparked by a second chance basket from Jada Crawshaw opened up a new contest for the Beach. CSUN pushed the lead back to six at 61-55, but the Beach answered with a jumper from Loobie and four points from Tucker to pull within one, and then a Jaquioa Jones-Brown gave the Beach the lead with :44 seconds left in the third.

Despite trailing by three entering the fourth quarter, the last period belonged the Beach. After a CSUN turnover Loobie tied the game at 67-67 with a 3-pointer, and the Beach moved back in front for good after back-to-back threes from Patricia Chung and Loobie put the Beach on top 75-70. The run continued as Sonnier pushed the lead to 80-70, and the 15-0 run for LBSU was finally snapped with just 3:34 remaining with the Beach lead in double figures.

Two free throws from Tucker sealed the win as the senior finished off her sixth 20-point performance of the season with 24 points. Crawshaw tied a career-high with 20 points in a double-double with a team-high 12 rebounds, as the Beach out-rebounded the Matadors 53-41 and finished with 25 second-chance points on the night.

Long Beach State will continue their homestand on Saturday, hosting Cal Poly in a game that will also be held in the Goldmine. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. against the Mustangs, and the contest will be simulcast live on Spectrum SportsNet and ESPN+.
