Jada Crawshaw leads the way with 20 for the Beach

FULLERTON, Calif.—Five Long Beach State players scored in double figures as the Beach defeated Cal State Fullerton 72-60 in Big West women's basketball play Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.

LBSU led 20-18 after 10 minutes and opened the second period on a 12-2 run that broke the game open. The Long Beach State defense forced seven Titans' turnovers and held Cal State Fullerton to 18.8% shooting in the second (3-16) to take a 37-26 lead into halftime.

The Beach surged to their largest lead of the game, 17 points, on a Jada Crawshaw basket that made it 53-36 with 4:20 remaining in the third quarter. The Titans battled back, outscoring Long Beach State 10-0 over the final 3:55 to send the game into the fourth quarter, with LBSU leading 53-47.

The Titans pushed the run to 12-0 when Eva Levingston connected on a turnaround jumper 47 seconds into the final frame. A little over a minute later, Crawshaw's basket halted the momentum. Long Beach State couldn't shake Cal State Fullerton as the Titans stayed within seven for most of the opening portion of the final period.

Maddy Tauro's field goal at the 4:29 mark created a 59-56 game. LBSU responded with a 10-0 charge that was capped off by a Crawshaw jumper in the paint with 1:39 remaining. Cal State Fullerton came within 12, including the game's final points on a Tauro field with 22 remaining, making it the final 72-60.

Crawshaw led all scorers with 20 points as she went 8-for-16 from the floor. She was 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Crawshaw grabbed six rebounds, had one assist, and one block. Rachel Loobie recorded her first double-double of the season as she scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Loobie dished out four assists, blocked two shots, and made two steals.
