Ceja & Schuck Earn Big West Women's Soccer Honors

Ceja is named Offensive Player of the Week; Schuck Defensive Player of the Week
LONG BEACH, Calif.—The Big West announced on Monday that Long Beach State's Kassandra Ceja and Aurora Schuck have earned a pair of league weekly awards.
Ceja was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week. Ceja scored twice as Long Beach State defeated UC Riverside 3-0 in the Big West women's soccer opener for both clubs on Sept. 22. Long Beach State took the lead in the 30th minute when Ceja headed in a Worden cross in front of the UCR net. Ceja recorded the brace in the 33rd minute. Jayla Justice fouled her in front of the UC Riverside goal and was awarded a penalty kick. Ceja converted the PK for a 2-0 lead. Ceja posted the assist on Malea Johnson's game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Cornell on Sept. 20.
Schuck was selected as the Big West Defensive Player of the Week. The redshirt sophomore posted back-to-back shutouts last week. She charted one save during the Cornell victory. Against UC Riverside, Schuck made eight saves. Returning to the Texas match on Sept. 8, she has not allowed a goal in her last 243 minutes.
Long Beach State (4-4-1, 1-0 Big West) hosts CSUN (2-7-1, 0-0-1 Big West) Thursday at 7 p.m.
