The Long Beach State schedule shows good balance with marquee home and road games and a midseason tournament held at the home of the Big West Championship.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Athletics announced Tuesday the schedule for the first season under new Men's Basketball Head Coach Chris Acker, featuring a 15-game home slate and a number of marquee road contests on the year.
Long Beach State will open up the official portion of the 2024-25 with an exhibition game on Monday, October 28, hosting CalTech in the Walter Pyramid at 7 p.m. The season will then officially start one week later as the Beach hosts LaVerne at 7 p.m. on October 4.
The first road trip of the season follows the next week, as the Beach will travel to South Dakota State, another NCAA Tournament team from a year ago before taking the first of five West Coast Conference opponents on the schedule, San Francisco on the road on Nov. 13.
A key portion of the schedule comes next, as Long Beach State hosts Portland on Saturday, November 16 then travels to play on the road at Gonzaga before returning to the Walter Pyramid, hosting Fresno State on November 23.
Just prior to Thanksgiving, Long Beach State will take part in the Ball Dawgs Classic. Played in the same arena in Henderson, Nevada as the Big West Championship, the four-team round robin tournament will feature three games November 25-27 as the Beach faces UNC Greensboro, UTEP and San Jose State at Lee's Family Forum.
A new wrinkle for the Big West, but not for college basketball fans, will be two early conference games as the first week of December opens up conference play to ensure a complete 20-game round-robin schedule for the 11 teams. Long Beach State will face Cal State Fullerton on the road December 5 before hosting Hawai'i on Saturday, December 7.
Long Beach State will face their fourth and fifth WCC opponents on the road at San Diego and at Pepperdine, before hosting La Sierra December 22 to close out non-conference action. The Beach will then open up the second week of Big West play on January 2 against UC Riverside, opening up the full conference slate that will wrap up on Saturday, March 8 when Long Beach State hosts Cal Poly.
Returning to Henderson, Long Beach State aims at locking in their second straight and 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament while participating in the Big West Championship held at Lee's Family Forum from March 12-15 in Nevada.
All regular season home games as well as all Big West conference games will be shown live on ESPN+, with additional details regarding game times and other broadcast outlets coming at a later date.
