
72 Long Beach State Student-Athletes Earn Spring Academic All-Big West

Over 100 student-athletes from Long Beach State were honored by the conference for their combined efforts in the classroom and in competition.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Big West announced Spring academic awards winners on Tuesday, and Long Beach State had 72 student-athletes across 10 sports honored as Academic All-Big West for the 2024 semester.
Student-Athletes by the Big West receiving recognition must carry a 3.00 cumulative grade point average, meet participation criteria relevant to their specific sport, and have completed a full academic year prior to the season for which the award is being received.
Alphabetically, the baseball program had seven Dirtbags who met the standard in Grant Cherry, Mason Dillow, Nick Marinconz, Kellan Montgomery, Myles Patton, Cole Santander and Nick Wallerstedt. Beach Volleyball saw eight honorees in Haley Carrington, Christine Deroos, Malia Gementera, Mo Gibson, Taylor Hagenah, Kate Stoughton, Julia Westby and Megan Widener.
Long Beach State's golf programs had five student-athletes recognized in Steen Zeman from the men's team and Angelina Kim, Madison Le, Janae Leovao and Jasmine Leovao. Ten Softball players were named Academic All-Big West in Jacquelyn Bickar, Mikayla Ceballos, Rebekah Durazo, Sophia Fernandez, Shannon Haddad, Sinclair Lawhorn, Lilyanna Martinez, Mo Quinlan, Carly Robbins and Corissa Sweet. Both Martinez and Quinlan had perfect 4.00 GPAs.
Nearly the entirety of the tennis roster earned Academic All-Big West in Doga Akyurek, Hana Becirovic Novak, Rhona Cook, Justine Dondanay, Sarah Medik, Peppi Ramstedt and Mathilde Tranberg.
Track and Field once again had the most individual honorees, 22 in total. Conrad Bernstein, Pablo Gamez, Quinn Garity, Elijah Harris, Patrick Henderson, Kyle Jankans, Micah Norfles, Daniel Palacio and Justin Watterson represented the men's program while KiiKii Brown, Alli Bryan, Maddie DeBorde, Rori Dennis-Lamont, Maddie Franco, Hailey Fune', Kendall Harrison, Giszelle Hrehor, Maggie Lear, Annie Murphy, Charlotte O'Connor, Jayda Rustemoglu and Allie Scimia represented the women's program.
Six players from the Men's Volleyball program also garnered Academic All-Big West honors in Mason Briggs, Clarke Godbold, Aidan Knipe, Sotiris Siapanis, Simon Torwie and Skyler Varga. Wrapping up the spring sports, Anne de Kleer, Rachael Kowalchick, Kathryn McCullough, Hailey Multz, Chelsea Oliver, Amanda Price and Mariah Walker all earned Academic All-Big West from Women's Water Polo.
Overall, including the Fall and Winter awards, Long Beach State had over 100 student-athletes honored for their combined efforts in the classroom and in competition.
