EUGENE, Ore.—Former Long Beach State athletes Jason Smith and Kemonie Briggs advanced to the men's long jump finals at the 2024 United States Olympic Trials Saturday at historic Hayward Field.
EUGENE, Ore.—Former Long Beach State athletes Jason Smith and Kemonie Briggs advanced to the men's long jump finals at the 2024 United States Olympic Trials Saturday at historic Hayward Field.
Briggs, competing for Leap Squad TC, finished sixth in the preliminaries with a leap of 26-1 1/2 on his second attempt.Â
Smith, who entered unattached, placed eighth with a mark of 26-0 3/4, which, like Briggs, occurred on his second of three attempts.
Led by USC's Johnny Brackins, who went 26-4 1/4, the top 12 moves onto Monday's finals, which are set for a 5:25 p.m. start on NBC and Peacock.
