Long Beach State Captures Back-To-Back Titles At The Big West Championships

The Beach win their third Big West Championship in four years
LA QUINTA, Calif. – The top-seeded Long Beach State Men's Golf team came out victorious as the Beach won their second-straight Big West Championship and third in four years on Tuesday afternoon at the La Quinta Country Club. The Beach clinched an automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regionals.
"I am so proud of this team," LBSU Head Coach Rob Murray exclaimed. "It was a complete team performance all week long. These championships are hard to win. And to win this championship at La Quinta Country Club with so much support from the Long Beach faithful is special."
Long Beach State entered the final round on top of the leaderboard and secured their win with a final score of 14-under par. Their 5-under par final round put them four strokes ahead of Cal State Fullerton, who finished in second place.
Senior Clay Seeber had an excellent tournament and finished in second place with a 69 in the final round and tournament score of 10-under par. Tegan Andrews of Cal State Fullerton came out on top with a score of 14-under par.
"Clay Seeber has been a rock for us all year and he played great this week," Murray said. "He works tirelessly and deserves this recognition."
Steen Zeman shot a 70 in his final round and earned a sixth place finish. His six birdies today helped him climb one spot with a final score of 3-under par.
"Steen Zeman, a walk on!" Murray smiled. "He's played three man for us most of the spring and came up huge this week. I'm very proud of him."
Charlie Forster finished tied for eighth after shooting even par for the tournament. Jack Cantlay and Jaden Huggins finished tied for 11th after their strong final round performances with a score of 2-over par.
Long Beach State clinched a spot in the NCAA 2024 Division I Men's Golf Regionals set to start Monday, May 13. The selection show will be Wednesday, May 1 at 11 a.m. (PT) on the Golf Channel.
