
Long Beach State Picked Second In AVCA National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Preseason Poll

The Beach garnered 435 points and one first-place vote to come in second in the preseason poll
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Long Beach State men's volleyball team has been ranked No. 2 in the AVCA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Preseason Poll which was released on Monday.
Long Beach State, which collected 435 points and one first-place vote, comes in second in the poll behind defending National Champion UCLA, which amassed 458 points and 22 first-place votes.
During the season, the Beach will face 10 of the 20 nationally ranked programs in No. 1 UCLA, No. 3 UC Irvine, No. 4 Hawaii, No. 9 Grand Canyon, No. 10 Pepperdine, No. 15 CSUN, No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, No. 18 UC San Diego, No. 19 Princeton, and No. 20 McKendree.
The Beach are coming off a 2024 season in which they finished as the NCAA National Runner Up with a 27-3 overall record.
Long Beach State opens the 2025 with the North American Challenge, a preseason exhibition tournament featuring Long Beach State, Pepperdine, UC San Diego, as well as some of the top teams in Canada in Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Canadian National Champion Trinity Western. The North American Challenge will run from January 3-4.
LBSU will officially kick off the 2025 campaign on Saturday, Jan. 11 against Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.
