A Quartet Of Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball Players Named CSC Academic All-District

Savana Chacon, Abby Karich, Ella Lomigora, and Zayna Meyer all earned the honors after excelling both on the court and in the classroom
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognized the nation's top student-athletes for their performances on the court and in the classroom. Long Beach State had four players earn the honors in Savana Chacon, Abby Karich, Ella Lomigora, and Zayna Meyer.
Chacon earns the honors for the second time in her career after being named CSC Academic All-District in 2023. This year, Chacon turned in a perfect 4.00 graduate grade point average as she is pursuing a master's degree in Sport Management. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in consumer affairs. On the court, Chacon saw action in 105 matches and helped anchor the backrow with 1.16 digs per set in her final season at the Beach.
Karich, a starting outside hitter for Long Beach State, was named CSC Academic All-District after posting a 3.50 grade point average while working towards a master's degree in Sport Management. Karich earned her undergraduate degree in Communications with a minor in psychology at the University of Utah. In her final year of eligibility, Karich was second on the team with 2.69 kills per set. She also contributed 1.76 digs and 0.49 blocks per set to go along with 25 aces.
Lomigora's 3.94 grade point average earned her a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team. The sophomore middle blocker is a Pre-Business Finance major and finished second on the squad with 1.05 blocks per set. She contributed on both sides of the ball posting 1.66 kills per set on a .308 attack percentage.
Meyer collects the honors for the second time in her career as she was named CSC Academic All-District a year ago. She owns a 3.64 grade point average and is graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration Marketing. The Beach's starting setter led Long Beach State to a .222 hitting percentage after distributing 8.20 assists per set. Meyer was effective on all sides of the ball as she logged 2.34 digs per set, while also adding 0.76 kills and 0.53 blocks per set.
The qualifications for the distinction are a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, while participating in 50 percent of the team's game this season.
