Long Beach State Sends Off Seniors With A Dominant Win

LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 11 Long Beach State defeated Cal State Fullerton 16-4 on Senior Night at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center for their second conference win.
The Beach (15-9, 2-2 Big West) got things started with two goals scored by junior Jason O'Donnell and senior Riley Catino. The Titans (11-15, 0-4 Big West) answered back with two quick goals to tie the game with ten seconds left in the quarter. Freshman Gabi Acosta got on the board with two seconds left to put the Beach back in the lead 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
On the second quarter of the game, the Beach had a clean sheet scoring five goals and not allowing any goals by the Titans. A pair of goals by both Acosta and Caleb Francisco, and a goal by senior Bruno Chiappini put the Beach up by six heading into halftime.
The second half continued with the Long Beach State dominating only allowing two goals by the Titans and scoring eight goals to close the game 16-4. Francisco and Michael Soybel each scored two goals apiece in the second half to help the Beach on the win. Evan Cain, Nikola Jancic and Keegan Moore completed the scoresheet for the Beach.
Long Beach State will end their homestand this Saturday as they host two exhibition games against Long Beach City College at 10 a.m. and Golden West College at Noon. After both games, Long Beach City and Golden West will play each other at 2 p.m.
