Aboubacar Traore Named Big West Player Of The Week

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Junior forward Aboubacar Traore was named the Big West Player of the Week after leading Long Beach State to a pair of wins over Cal Poly and UC Riverside.

                Traore set a career-high on the road with 30 points at Cal Poly, becoming just the 12th player in the Dan Monson era to finish with a 30+ point game. Traore went 14-of-17 from the floor, and finished with eight rebounds in that contest as well.

                Returning to the Walter Pyramid two days later, Traore recorded his third double-double of the season, battling through foul trouble to record a double-double in only the second half, finishing the win against the Highlanders with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks.

                On the week, Traore averaged 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.5 blocks. He continues to rank seventh or higher in all seven categories through four games of league play.

                Traore was the second player and third honoree from Long Beach State of the Big West Player of the Week award. Marcus Tsohonis was twice recognized after leading Long Beach State in scoring in wins earlier this season on the road at Michigan and at USC.
