Lazar Bouchkov Earns Second Consecutive Big West Defensive Player Of The Week Honor

Lazar Bouchkov averaged an incredible 3.00 blocks per set in a pair of Long Beach State sweeps

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the Men's Volleyball Player of the Week awards and for the second-straight week, Long Beach State's Lazar Bouchkov has taken home Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Bouchkov led the Beach to a pair of sweeps over No. 10 Pepperdine and Concordia last week as he paced the defense with 3.00 blocks per set while holding the Waves and the Golden Eagles to a combined .012 hitting percentage.

The freshman middle blocker kicked off the week with a 10-block performance against Pepperdine. Bouchkov contributed on all sides off the ball chipping in four kills on a .667 attack percentage (4-0-6), while adding one assist.

The next night against Concordia, Bouchkov picked up right where he left off logging right blocks, while recording three kills on a .600 clip (3-0-5).

On the year, Bouchkov leads the nation with 1.83 blocks per set.
