
Long Beach State Women’s Hoops Releases the 2023-24 Schedule

The Amy Wright Era begins November 8, which kicks off a competitive slate for the Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Basketball has announced the 2023-24 schedule, which features the Beach Classic, along with 16 home contests, and pits the Beach against seven teams that made the postseason a year ago and five teams that boasted 20-plus win seasons in 2022-23.
Long Beach State is coming off a very successful season in which the Beach won 23 games and presented a 17-3 record in Big West action, while advancing to the WNIT. This season, Amy Wright is taking the reins in her first year as a head coach as she looks to lead the team to another exciting season of Beach Basketball.
The Beach will start the season hosting Biola on Wednesday, November 8 at 6 p.m., before welcoming their first NCAA Division I opponent to the Walter Pyramid, in Nevada, on Sunday, November 12 at 1 p.m.
The Beach will hit the road as they take on California Baptist (November 15), Fresno State (November 21), Pepperdine (November 27), and Texas (December 6). The four-game road swing will be a competitive one as Long Beach State starts out with California Baptist, which is coming off a 22-win season and a WBI appearance. LBSU will close out the road trip at Texas, which finished the 2022-23 season ranked No. 15 nationally after boasting 26 victories and an NCAA Second Round appearance.
Long Beach State will return to the Walter Pyramid to host the annual Beach Classic from Friday, December 15- Saturday, December 16. The Beach Classic features Colorado State, Pacific, and Big West foe UC Irvine. LBSU will play Colorado State on Friday, December 15 at 6 p.m., before facing Pacific on Saturday, December 16 at 5 p.m. The tournament will conclude on Saturday with a 7 p.m. game between Colorado State and UC Irvine. Both Colorado State and UCI are coming off 20-plus win seasons and appearances in the WNIT.
Following the Beach Classic, LBSU will welcome San Francisco (December 19) and USC (December 21) to the Walter Pyramid to close out the non-conference season. USF finished the 2022-23 season with 19 victories and made it to the WNIT, while USC logged 21 wins and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Beach will begin Big West action on Thursday, December 28 when they host Cal State Fullerton at the 'Mid at 7 p.m. LBSU will take a quick trip to CSUN on Saturday, December 30, before starting the new year against Cal Poly on Thursday, January 4 at 7 p.m.
The conference season will be in full swing by January as Long Beach State goes up against UC Riverside on the road (January 6), before hosting UC San Diego (January 11) and UC Santa Barbara (January 13). LBSU will travel to Hawaii (January 18) and UC Irvine (January 25), before returning home to host UC Riverside on January 27.
The month of February will see Long Beach State take on Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday, February 1 at 7 p.m., before traveling to UC San Diego (February 3) and Cal Poly (February 10). UC Davis (February 15) and CSUN (February 17) will come to the Walter Pyramid to face LBSU. Then the Beach will head to Bakersfield on Thursday, Feb. 22, before coming back to Long Beach to host reigning Big West Champion Hawaii on Saturday, Feb. 24. LBSU and Cal State Fullerton face off at Titan Gym on Thursday, February 29.
Long Beach State's final home contest of the regular season is set for Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. as they face UC Irvine in the Black and Blue Rivalry. LBSU will then close out the regular season on the road with contests at UC Santa Barbara (March 7) and UC Davis (March 9), before heading to Henderson, Nev., for The Big West Championships which will take place from Wednesday, March 13 – Saturday, March 16.
