Women’s Volleyball Chosen to Finish Third in 2023 Big West Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Redshirt sophomore setter Zayna Meyer named to the All-Big West Preseason Team
IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West released the 2023 Women's Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Friday afternoon. Long Beach State was chosen to finish third as the Beach garnered 82 points and one first-place vote.
Hawaii was chosen as the preseason favorite with 100 points and 10 first-place votes. UC Santa Barbara came in second, edging the Beach by just one point for a total of 83. Coming in behind Long Beach State, is Cal Poly with 81 points, while UC Davis (61 points), UC Irvine (54 points), and UC San Diego (42 points) take the fifth, sixth, and seven spots.
Rounding out the bottom of the preseason poll are Cal State Bakersfield (33 points), Cal State Fullerton (32 points), CSUN (27 points), and UC Riverside (10 points).
In addition to the preseason poll, the conference also released the Preseason Coaches' Team which consisted of eight players. Long Beach State's Zayna Meyer earned a nod on the preseason team. The redshirt sophomore setter is coming off an impressive rookie season in which she was named to the All-Big West
Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Meyer concluded her freshman campaign averaging 10.28 assists per set, while also adding 2.33 digs, 0.80 kills, and 0.69 blocks per set.
