
Pair of Throwers to Represent LBSU at USATF U20 Championships

Freshmen TJ Wiggins and Aiden Pastorian will both head to Eugene, Ore. for the USATF U20 Championships this weekend.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State will have a pair of representatives at the USATF U20 Championships in Oregon this weekend as freshmen TJ Wiggins and Aiden Pastorian both qualified for the meet. Wiggins will compete in men's Discus while Pastorian competes in men's Shot Put.
Wiggins had a phenomenal first year of collegiate competition ending the season as an NCAA West Preliminary Qualifier in Discus. An All-Big West honoree, he posted a lifetime best 56.89m (189-8) for a runner-up finish at the Big West Championships. After competing in his first ever collegiate meet, he was named Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week after finishing second overall (first among collegiate competitors) in men's Discus. For the season, he totaled three podium finishes including a victory at the Challenge Cup.
Pastorian also had a tremendous debut season highlighted by a lifetime best of 17.33m (56-10.25) in Shot Put at the Beach Invitational. He also recorded points for his team at both the indoor and outdoor championships, finishing as the runner-up at the MPSF Indoor Championships and seventh at the Big West Outdoor Championships. For the year, he had six podium finishes including a Shot Put victory at the Stanford Invitational, his fourth career collegiate outdoor meet.
The duo will both be in action on Saturday, July 8 with Pastorian competing at 1:15 p.m. and Wiggins competing at 3 p.m.
