LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State's Nico Zeglin has been named a Third Team All-American by D1Baseball. It is his fourth different selection following his incredible 2023 campaign.
The right-hander was a revelation in the Dirtbags weekend rotation throughout the season. In 94.2 innings pitched, he posted an even 2.00 ERA with 117 strikeouts. Both of those marks ranked seventh in all of NCAA Division I baseball among qualified pitchers at the end of the regular season.
He also ranked 12th in the nation in WHIP at 0.99 and 26tha in H/9, allowing just 6.37 hits per nine innings. His .202 opponent batting average was also among the nation's leaders as was his 4.33 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 11.12 strikeouts per nine.
Making 15 starts on the mound, he recorded 10 quality starts including six straight to end the season. In fact, he only surrendered more than three earned runs in one outing all season. He also notched five double-digit strikeout outings in his final collegiate season.
With the selection, Zeglin is the first Dirtbag to earn All-American selections by four different major media outlets since Evan Longoria in 2006. He is the first pitcher to accomplish the feat since 2005.
