LBSU Women’s Volleyball Releases Competitive 2023 Schedule

Long Beach State will host 14 matches, including two tournaments, while facing six Power 5 opponents including the defending National Champion Texas Longhorns

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Volleyball Head Coach Tyler Hildebrand has compiled an intense and competitive 2023 schedule. The 2023 season will see the Beach host 14 matches at the Walter Pyramid, including a pair of tournaments. Overall, LBSU will face half a dozen Power 5 opponents, and five teams that competed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, including defending National Champion Texas.
The Beach open the 2023 campaign against the Longhorns, who are coming off of their fourth NCAA National Title, on Friday, August 25 at 6 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid as part of the LBSU Tournament. The tournament pits the Beach against Loyola Marymount, another 2022 NCAA Tournament team, on Sunday, August 27 at 4 p.m.
Long Beach State hosts its second home tournament of the season beginning on August 31 against Indiana at 7 p.m. The Beach then host Washington, another 2022 NCAA Tournament team, on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m., before closing the tournament against UCLA on Saturday, September 2 at 7 p.m.
Week three of the preseason features Long Beach State's first road trip of the year as the Beach head to the Midwest to face off against Omaha on Thursday, September 7 at 7 p.m., and Nebraska on Saturday, September 9 in Lincoln, Neb., at 7 p.m. The Huskers are coming off of another NCAA Tournament appearance in which they reached the Regional Semifinals.
LBSU will close out the preseason in Tucson, Ariz., as the Wildcats host a tournament at the McKale Center from September 14-16. The Beach will wrap up the tournament against the hosts on Saturday, September 16 at 7 p.m.
The Big West season begins on Friday, September 22 as the Beach host Cal Poly at the Walter Pyramid. The match kicks off a four-match homestand for Long Beach as they welcome UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 23), UC San Diego (Sept. 28), and Hawaii (Sept. 29) to the 'Mid.
The Beach will hit the road on Friday, October 6 to take on CSU Bakersfield, before facing CSUN in Northridge on Saturday, October 7.
Long Beach returns to the Walter Pyramid to host UC Davis and UC Riverside on Friday, October 13 and Saturday, October 14, respectively.
After a quick trip to Irvine to face the Anteaters on Thursday, October 19, the Beach will welcome Cal State Fullerton to the 'Mid for a Saturday, October 21 contest.
The Beach will play at UC Riverside and UC Davis on Thursday, October 26 and Saturday, October 28, respectively, before facing CSUN and CSU Bakersfield at home on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4, respectively.
LBSU will close out the regular season on the road as they travel to UC Santa Barbara (Nov. 10), Cal Poly (Nov. 11), UC San Diego (Nov. 14), and Hawaii (Nov. 18).
Long Beach State will then host the inaugural Big West Championship November 22, 24-25 at the Walter Pyramid. The tournament will feature six teams, with the two top seeds earning a bye into the semifinals which will be played on Friday, November 24. The championship match will be held on Saturday, November 25.

Mini-plan tickets will go on sale Monday, July 17, and single-event tickets will go on sale Tuesday, August 1.
