Zeglin Garners Pitcher of the Week Honors

The right-hander pitched the Dirtbags to a series opening victory against UC Santa Barbara.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State's Nico Zeglin has been named the National Pitcher of the Week by D1Baseball as well as the Big West Pitcher of the Week after a dominant outing this past Friday. It is his second weekly honor of the season.
The grad student tossed his first career complete game shutout in Friday night's victory over UC Santa Barbara, needing just 99 pitches to do so. Totaling 10 strikeouts on the night, it is his fourth double-digit effort of the season and puts him past the 100-K mark for the year.
Zeglin allowed just five baserunners in the outing, all of which came in the first two innings. After a one-out walk in the top half of the third, the right-hander retired the final 20 Gaucho hitters of the ballgame.
In the national rankings, he ranks sixth in strikeouts (104), 12th in ERA (2.21), and 13th in WHIP (1.00) while also sitting in the top 50 for hits allowed per nine, wins, strikeout-to-walk ratio, and strikeouts per nine.
