Senior outside hitter Spencer Olivier and senior middle blocker Shane Holdaway rounded out the offensive attack with seven and five kills, respectively.

Torwie led the Beach with a .583 (8-1-12) attack percentage, while also posting a team-best nine blocks and three aces as he did a good job contributing on both sides of the ball.

Olivier and Godbold also posted four and three blocks, respectively, to help keep the Matadors off balance.

The Beach opened the match with a quick 3-1 lead and extended it to 10-4 after a kill from Siapanis forced a CSUN timeout. The break in action did not stop Long Beach as they went on a 5-0 run highlighted by an ace from Knipe to give the Beach an 18-10 advantage. CSUN managed to make it a four-point game (23-19), but the Beach got an ace from Holdaway to win the first set, 25-19.

CSUN evened the score at 5-5, which kicked off a back-and-forth set that saw 10 ties and four lead changes over the next several points.
