Burns Named Big West Player of the Week

Connor Burns earns his first weekly honor in the midst of a nine-game hit streak.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Junior Connor Burns has been named the Big West Player of the Week this week after leading the Dirtbags to a series victory at UC Irvine. It is the first of his collegiate career.

Well known for his defense, Burns is swinging a hot bat in his draft-eligible season hitting 9-for-18 (.500) with a .550 on-base and .889 slugging percentage. Five of his nine hits went for extra bases with four doubles and a home run to go along with four runs batted in and five runs scores.

Recording at least one hit in each of the Dirtbags' four games last week, including a pair of three-hit efforts, he now owns a nine-game hit streak. In that span, he is slashing .405/.488/.757 with three home runs and nine RBI.

For the season, he has lifted his average to a .297 clip and ranks second on the team with six home runs and a .940 OPS.
