Bjarne Huus Returns to Long Beach State as Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach

Huus comes back to his alma mater as the Assistant Women’s Volleyball and Mental Performance Coach
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Volleyball Head Coach Tyler Hildebrand announced the hiring of Bjarne Huus as the team's assistant and mental performance coach in March 2023.
Huus, a Long Beach State alumni, returns to the Beach after playing professionally overseas, playing on Norway's National Team, and serving as the head coach for the Norwegian Girl's Youth National Team in the Nordic Championship U17 in 2022.
"We are incredibly excited to bring Bjarne on our staff," said Hildebrand. "Bjarne was born to coach and has made a big move to come here from Norway. He is an alumni and was a starter on our men's 2018 National Championship team. He brings a wealth of knowledge, one of the deepest passions for the game and coaching I have ever seen, along with a confidence and youthful energy that will affect our women, staff, and overall program.
"It has been a long road to get him here and I want to say thank you to our athletic department for all the work it took to allow us to have him be a part of this journey with us. We have big dreams for this program and now we are fully staffed and ready to continue to build this team into what our community and fan base deserve! I can't wait to get started with Bjarne and the rest of our program on our journey to The Big West Championships in November."
Huus began his Long Beach State career in 2015 and went on to play four years with the LBSU Men's Volleyball team culminating with him leading the squad to the 2018 NCAA National Championship. While at the Beach, Huus helped LBSU capture the 2017 MPSF and 2018 Big West Conference Titles. In three of four years, his Long Beach State squads advanced to the Final Four.
"I am very proud and grateful to be back at the Beach," said Huus. "I'm looking forward to being a part of this program of talented players and coaches. Thank you very much to Tyler Hildebrand for this opportunity."
Huus graduated from Long Beach State in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
