Long Beach State alum, Lena Silano, Makes Pro Debut with Washington Spirit

Silano was drafted by the Spirt in the third round of the 2023 NWSL Draft.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Long Beach State women's soccer alumni, Lena Silano, made her professional debut with the Washington Spirit last night. She is just the second to appear in an NWSL game in program history.
 
Silano subbed into the season opening game at Audi Field last night in the 85th minute, helping secure a 1-0 victory for her new club.
 
A third-round draft pick of the 2023 NWSL Draft, the 2022 Big West Offensive Player of the Year signed her first ever professional club with the Spirit on March 8.
 
Silano, rewrote the record books at Long Beach State including the most multi-goal games (8) in program history to go along with the fifth most game-winning goals (10), seventh most career goals (27), and seventh most points (64). Her 16 goals during her senior season tied the program record while her 36 total points were third most in single-season history.
 
One of the most decorated players to come through the Beach, she was a two-time All-West Region selection and two-time All-Big West First Team selection to go along with her Player of the Year award.
