Connor Bloom Named Big West Freshman of the Week

Redshirt freshman Connor Bloom earns his first-ever Big West weekly award after leading Long Beach State to a pair of wins last week

IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State redshirt freshman Connor Bloom came off the bench and helped lead No. 4 Long Beach State to a pair of victories over No. 11 USC last week. For his efforts, Bloom was named Big West Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career.

Bloom played in two sets Friday night at home and led the Beach on several serving runs, while also making key plays on the court. With Bloom's help, Long Beach State rolled over USC in straight sets, 25-17, 25-15, 25-23.

The next night, Bloom contributed to Long Beach's 3-1 [25-13, 14-25, 27-25, 25-21] road win at USC as he turned in another excellent showing from the endline as he served up an ace, while also contributing defensively with a dig.

On the week, with Bloom's assistance, the Beach limited the Trojans to a .146 attack percentage as Long Beach State won their eighth match in the last nine contests.
