LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore forward Lassina Traore was picked as one of ten players to represent the Big West and West Coast Conference on the NABC All-District 9, chosen by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Traore was a dominant force inside for Long Beach State. In his first season at the Beach, Traore was selected as the Big West Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-Big West selection after leading LBSU and the Big West in rebounding at 10.5 per game while also averaging 12.9 points per game.
A double-double machine, Traore tied the single-season record at Long Beach State with 17 this season, a mark that currently stands as eighth in the country. Traore also became the first Long Beach State player to put up a 20/20 game in 40 years, scoring 22 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the regular season finale at UC Davis.
Traore ranks in the nation's Top 10 in rebounding, and was one of 13 players to average a double-double across the season. His 347 rebounds this season tied for second-most in one year at Long Beach State, and his 426 total points on the year led Long Beach State as the sophomore started every game in his first year at the Beach.
Long Beach State has had a player selected for the second team two years running, as guard Joel Murray earned the honor following the 2022-23 campaign after leading the Big West in scoring at 16.7 points per game.
