
Zayna Meyer Named AVCA Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention

Meyer earned the honors for the first time in her career after an excellent sophomore campaign
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2023 Division I All-Region Teams on Tuesday morning, and Long Beach State's Zayna Meyer was named a Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention selection.
With the honor, Meyer becomes just the 32nd Long Beach State Women's Volleyball player to be named to the All-Region Team as she joins the likes of legendary LBSU players Misty May, Tara Cross, and Danielle Scott.
The redshirt sophomore setter turned in an excellent season in 2023 as she was named Big West Setter of the Year and All-Big West First Team. She led the Beach to a conference-leading 244 hitting percentage and was second in The Big West with 9.99 assists per set. Meyer was consistent on all sides of the ball for the Beach as she also contributed 2.46 digs per set, 0.87 kills per set, and 0.51 blocks per set, while serving up 35 aces and hitting .315 (99-29-222).
The product out of Wheaton, Ill., finished the 2023 season with a team-leading 14 double-doubles. Meyer also led the Beach in digs on six separate occasions, while leading the squad in blocks four times. In her sophomore season, she was named Big West Setter of the Week on four different occasions.
