Kameron Bacon Named Big West Defensive Player Of The Week

Bacon’s career-high nine block performance leads to her second Big West Defensive Player of the Week award this season
IRVINE, Calif. – Beach State's Kameron Bacon took home The Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. The junior middle blocker led the LBSU defense to a pair of road wins over UC Riverside and UC Davis last week as the Beach extend their winning streak to six.
Bacon turned in a stout defensive effort last week as she averaged 1.88 blocks per set, while helping Long Beach State hold its opponents to a .134 attack percentage. She also contributed offensively with 1.38 kills per set, while hitting .286.
She kicked off the weekend with a career-high nine blocks to go along with seven kills, while hitting .375 (7-1-16) against the Highlanders. Two days later, Bacon scored six blocks against the Aggies, while also contributing four kills.
With her solid performances last week, Bacon is now averaging 1.23 blocks per set to rank third in The Big West.
