Cherrie Cox Wins Final Big West Offensive Player Of The Week

Cox scored two goals as Long Beach State clinched a home game as part of the Big West Championship with a 4-2 win over Hawai’i.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sophomore Cherrie Cox earned the final Big West Offensive Player of the Week award after her two-goal effort lead Long Beach State to a home game to begin the upcoming Big West Championship.
Cox scored the first and final goals in Long Beach State's 4-2 home win over Hawai'i, moving the Beach into the fourth seed for the upcoming championship. Cox converted a penalty to open the scoring the 17th minute, and then scored the first goal of the second half to increase Long Beach State's lead to 4-0 at the time.
In the process, Cox extended her league lead in goals scored this season to 13, a mark that ranks in the Top 10 nationally and is tied for fourth all-time in single-season school history.
Long Beach State will begin their postseason this Sunday at home, hosting UC Irvine at George Allen Field where LBSU is unbeaten since the opening day of the regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+.
Tickets are available online through the Long Beach State Box Office. As Sunday's game is a Big West Conference event, all fans, including season-ticket holders will need to purchase tickets.
