Long Beach State Garners Three Big West Volleyball Weekly Award Winners

Natalie Glenn is named Offensive Player of the Week, while Savana Chacon takes home Defensive Player of the Week, and Zayna Meyer wins Setter of the Week honors
IRVINE, Calif. – After an outstanding weekend in which Long Beach State picked up a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawaii, the Beach boast three Big West Volleyball Weekly award winners. Junior Natalie Glenn was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Savana Chacon was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week, and redshirt sophomore Zayna Meyer was named Big West Setter of the Week.
Glenn earned her first-career Big West weekly honor after totaling 28 kills to average 4.67 kills per set, while hitting .407 (28-6-54) on the weekend. She also contributed 1.83 digs per set and 1.00 blocks per set, while serving up four aces. Glenn kicked off the week with 17 kill son a .593 clip, to go along with six digs, three blocks, and an ace against UC San Diego. She came back the next night and tallied 11 kills, five digs, three blocks, and three aces in LBSU's 3-0 sweep over Hawaii. The win snapped an 11-match losing streak against the Bows as the Beach earned their first win over the Rainbow Wahine since 2016. It was the first time since 1997 that Long Beach State swept Hawaii.
Chacon won her second-straight Big West weekly honor as she anchored the Long Beach State defense with 4.83 digs per set. Her defensive prowess helped lead the Beach to a pair of sweeps over UC San Diego and Hawaii as LBSU limited its opponents to a .116 attack percentage. Chacon logged 16 digs and six assists on Thursday, before contributing 13 digs and three assists against Hawaii on Friday. She has now recorded double-digit digs in 13 matches this season.
Meyer rounded out the Beach award winners as she captured the Big West Setter of the Week award for the first time this season, and the fifth time in her career. She led Long Beach State to a .255 team attack percentage as she distributed 11.83 assists per set, to go along with 2.50 digs per set. She registered 39 assists, eight digs, and two aces against UC San Diego, and 32 assists, seven digs, two kills, and one block versus Hawaii.
