Zayna Meyer And Kameron Bacon Named Big West Setter And Defensive Player Of The Week

Meyer and Bacon helped lead Long Beach State to a pair of sweeps over Big West foes UC Davis and UC Riverside last week
IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the Women's Volleyball weekly award winners and Long Beach State's Zayna Meyer was named Setter of the Week, while Kameron Bacon took home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Meyer earned the honors for the second time this season as she piloted Long Beach State to a .393 team attack percentage last week. In addition to averaging 10.50 assists per set, she also contributed 2.33 digs per set, 2.17 kills per set, 0.83 blocks per set, and hit an incredible .722 (13-0-18).
The product out of Wheaton, Ill., started the week against UC Davis with seven kills on 10 errorless swings for a .700 clip, to go along with 35 assists and 10 digs for a double-double. She also added two blocks and an ace. The next night against UCR, Meyer registered six kills on eight errorless attempts as she hit .750, while also posting 28 assists, four digs, and three blocks.
Bacon earned her first Big West Defensive Player of the Week award after averaging 2.00 blocks per set to lead LBSU. Her stout defense helped limit the Aggies and Highlanders to a .043 attack percentage on the weekend. Bacon contributed on both sides of the ball as she added 2.50 kills per set on a .444 attack percentage (15-3-27).
Against UC Davis, Bacon led the Beach with five blocks, while also tallying nine kills on a .643 hitting percentage (9-0-14). She turned in another solid showing against UCR, as Bacon posted seven blocks to go along with six kills on a .231 attack percentage (6-3-13).
