2022 Women's Volleyball Schedule
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Volleyball has announced the 2022 schedule, which features two tournaments, 13 home matches, and 10 home conference matches to be played at the Walter Pyramid under new Head Coach Tyler Hildebrand.
The Hildebrand Era will begin on the road at the Portland State Tournament. The Beach will open the season against Oregon State on Friday, August 26 at 11 a.m., before taking on host Portland State that night at 6 p.m. LBSU will close out the Portland State Tournament against Oregon on Saturday, August 27 at 2 p.m.
Long Beach State's first home contest is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1 against Boise State at 7 p.m., which opens the Long Beach State Tournament. The Tournament will also feature Notre Dame, which will face Boise State on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m., before going up against the host Beach on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.
Hildebrand will take the Beach back to his old stomping grounds at Nebraska, the 2021 NCAA Champion runner up, for a road match on Saturday, Sept. 10, before closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule with a pair of home-and-home matches against Loyola Marymount. LBSU will take on LMU in Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 16, before hosting the Lions at the Pyramid on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Beach opens Big West Conference action on the road with contests at Cal Poly (Sept. 23), CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 24), and Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 27). Long Beach returns home to the Pyramid to host conference foes Hawaii (Oct. 1), UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 7), and CSUN (Oct. 8), before traveling to La Jolla, Calif., to face off against UC San Diego on Friday, Oct. 14.
LBSU will host UC Irvine in the Black and Blue Rivalry match on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Pyramid, before traveling to UC Riverside (Oct. 20) and UC Davis (Oct. 22). From there, the Beach will play three-straight home contests against CSU Bakersfield (Oct. 28), Cal Poly (Oct. 29), and Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 1), before the Beach's last road swing of the regular season.
Long Beach State will fly to Honolulu, Hawaii for a match at Hawaii on Friday, Nov. 4, before traveling to CSUN and UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 11 and 12, respectively. The Beach will return home to welcome UC San Diego to Long Beach, Calif., on Friday, Nov. 18, before facing UC Irvine on the road on Saturday, Nov. 19.
The regular season will wrap up the week of Thanksgiving as Long Beach hosts UC Davis on Friday, Nov. 25 and UC Riverside on Saturday, Nov. 26.
