Washington, Coleman Named Big West Athletes of the Week

Crystal Washington and Sebastian Coleman have earned Big West Athlete of the Week honors.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Crystal Washington and Sebastian Coleman have earned Big West Athlete of the Week honors for their performances last weekend. Washington was the women's Field Athlete of the Week and Coleman was the men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Washington continued her run of dominance at the Steve Scott Invitational in women's Triple Jump last weekend. Launching herself 12.88m (42-3.25), she improved on her own school record and lifetime-best for the second time this year. She claimed the top spot by over a foot and a half marking her seventh consecutive victory this season.
The senior captain currently ranks first in the conference for the event and ranks in the top 50 in all of NCAA.
Coleman had another fantastic weekend in the throws events in Irvine, Calif. this past weekend. Competing in Hammer, Discus, and Shot Put, the junior picked up two victories and a top ten. His first victory came in Hammer with a mark of 63.12m (207-1) as part of a one-two-three finish for the Beach. They repeated the feat in Discus with a mark of 57.17m (187-7) with Coleman taking the spot. He ended the weekend with a top ten in Shot Put, throwing 15.40m (50-6.25) for a tenth place finish.
He currently ranks first in the conference in Hammer, second in Discus, and 14th in Shot Put. His marks also rank in the top 50 in the nation.
