The Big West Conference announced the 2022 Men's Golf All-Conference Team awards on Thursday and Long Beach State had three players earn All-Big West honors. Additionally, Ian Gilligan was named Freshman of the Year. Gilligan also was selected to the All-Big West First Team along with senior Tyler Schafer, while junior Isaac Rodea claimed All-Big West Second Team accolades.

Gilligan is a true freshman who finished his rookie season with a 72.20 stroke average, three Top 10 finishes, and five Top 25 showings. The Reno, Nev., native saw action in 10-of-11 events this season. He wrapped up the year with his best finish, a runner-up performance, in the Big West Championships where he fired a 70-68-69 for 9-under par. His season-low round of 66 came in the second round of The Goodwin where he was LBSU's top-finisher with an event low of 203 for 7-under par.

Schafer, the 2019 Big West Freshman of the Year, is now a three-time All-Big West Conference selection after claiming First Team honors this season. The local product of Long Beach, Calif., leads the Beach with a 71.38 stroke average, while posting four Top 10 finishes, and five Top 25 performances. He heads into the NCAA Regionals at Stockton, Calif., next week where he will be competing as an individual. Schafer's best finish thus far came at the Desert Intercollegiate where he placed in a tie for third as he shot 69-71-60 for 6-under par. He shot a season-low round score of 67 on two separate occasions – at the Goodwin and the El Macero Classic. Schafer's event low came at the Cowboy Classic where he posted a 206 for a 10-under par performance in which he finished in a tie for seventh place.

Rodea has now been named to the All-Big West Second Team for the second year in a row. He concluded his junior campaign with a stroke average of 73.47 after seeing action in 10 events. He earned his first-ever collegiate tournament win as he won the Cowboy Classic after firing a 65-69-69 for 13-under par. His first round score of 65 was his season low, and it also tied the Long Beach State record for the best first round score. His total of 203, also a career-best, for 13-under par was just one stroke short of the individual Cowboy Classic Tournament record. Rodea wrapped up the 2021-22 season with two Top 10 finishes.
