Alex Nikolov Wins Fourth Big West Conference Freshman of the Week Award

Nikolov averaged 4.43 kills per set on a .439 attack percentage last week en route to winning his fourth weekly conference award

IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State freshman outside hitter Alex Nikolov earned his fourth Big West Conference Freshman of the Week award after leading the Beach to a pair of non-conference victories last week.

Nikolv averaged 4.43 kills per set on a .439 attack percentage (31-6-57), while also accumulating seven aces, seven digs, five blocks, and three assists as No. 2 Long Beach State defeated NJIT (3-1) and Long Island University (3-0) last week.

The product out of Sofia, Bulgaria kicked off the week with 19 kills on a .351 clip against NJIT. In that match, he also added five digs, three aces, two blocks, and two assists.

Nikolov came back the next night and led the Beach with 12 kills on 20 errorless swings as he hit .600 in the sweep over LIU. Additionally, he posted four aces, three blocks, and one assist.
