Long Beach State’s Joel Murray Named NABC All-District 9

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State's Joel Murray was selected by the coaches of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as an All-District 9 second-team honoree, recognizing a fine section.

                10 players were named to the first and second team, recognizing the top players from the Big West Conference and the West Coast Conference. Murray ended up leading the Big West in scoring over all games, averaging 16.5 points per game while also leading Long Beach State in steals with 48 and averaging 3.1 points per game.

                Long Beach State's point guard, Murray also averaged 38.2 percent shooting from three, and made 133 total free throws on the year, averaging 84.7 percent from the line, second-best in the Big West over all games played in 2021-22.

                Murray became the first LBSU player to receive the honor since Nick Faust following the 2015-16 season, also the last time Long Beach State went to the NIT.
