Peppi Earns First Career Big West Player of the Week

Rocco Peppi has been named the Big West Field Player of the Week.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Rocco Peppi was red hot at the plate this past week helping the Dirtbags to a three-win week, including a series victory over No. 15 ranked Gonzaga. His performance earned him Big West Field Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.
The redshirt freshman slashed an outstanding .462/.588/.923, recording a hit in three of the four games. His best day came on Saturday against Gonzaga where he went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored.
The Dirtbag third baseman also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth in Sunday's series finale that secured Long Beach State's second series victory over a ranked opponent this season.
Recording multi-hit efforts in five of his last seven games, Peppi has seen his average jump from .130 up to .319 for the season.
Among players who have started at least five games for the Dirtbags, he ranks tied for first in RBI, second in home runs, third in hits and total bases, and fourth in average. He also leads the team with five hit by pitches through 14 games.
