Dylan Dela Cruz Claims Final Big West Defensive Player of the Week Honor

The senior libero concludes her collegiate career with her fourth conference weekly award

IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West announced the final weekly awards for the 2022 season on Monday afternoon and Long Beach State's Dylan Dela Cruz was named Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth, and final time in her career.

Dela Cruz concluded her LBSU career with a solid week in which she averaged 5.50 digs per set as she led the Beach to a pair of sweeps over UC Davis and UC Riverside to wrap up the season. With Dela Cruz's solid defensive efforts, the Beach held their opponents to a .063 attack percentage over the two contests.

Against UC Davis on Friday night, Dela Cruz led the Beach with 13 digs in the backrow, while also contributing six assists in the sweep. The next night, she logged 20 digs as she helped LBSU hold UCR to a mere .019 attack percentage.

Dela Cruz finished her Long Beach State career with a total of 958 digs as she averaged 4.48 digs per set in her final season in Black and Gold.
