Ian Gilligan Named Big West Men’s Golfer of the Month

Team and individual wins earn Gilligan monthly honors
IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State's Ian Gilligan took home the first Big West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month award after turning in an excellent showing at the Nick Watney Invitational last month.
Gilligan turned in one of the best outings of his career as he fired a 66-64-69 to finish in a tie for first with a 199 14-under par. His second round 64 was a career-best for the sophomore as was his 14-under par 199 performance, which also tied the program's low 54-hole socre.
If that weren't enough, the Reno, Nev., native led Long Beach State to a first-place finish as the Beach finished with an 822 30-under par, which was a new program record.
Gilligan finished the tournament with 17 birdies, which was the most in the competition. He also added an eagle on the final day of the tournament.
