LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Women's Soccer had five student-athletes earn All-Big West selections, led by Lena Silano and Cherrie Cox garnering top honors. Silano was named the Offensive Player of the Year and Cox was named the Freshman of the Year.
Silano turned in another historic year in her final season at the Beach. Among The Big West leaders in virtually every offensive category, she led the league in goals scored and total points, both of which rank top five nationally. She also ranked tied for first in game-winners and shots while ranking second in assists and shots on goal. Her 14 goals at the end of the regular season ranks third most in program history while her 34 points is fifth. She also ranks in the top ten all-time of Long Beach history in career shots, goals, points, and game-winners.
The senior registered at least one point in 12 of the team's 18 matches, her best performance came against UC San Diego where she recorded the ninth hat trick in program history. Adding an assist, her seven points for the night tied the single-game program record.
Silano is the fifth Big West Offensive Player of the Year for Long Beach State and first since Ashley Gonzales in 2016. She was also named an All-Big West First Team selection.

Cox had an incredible debut season with the Beach totaling five goals and five assists, including four of each during Big West play. Her 12 points in conference action ranked second in the league trailing just Silano and her 15 points for the entire season led all The Big West freshmen. She also finished third in the conference rankings for shots and shots on goal.
Her best stretch of play began at Hawai'i where she started a streak of scoring a goal in four consecutive matches, and even adding an assist in three of those four. She was one of just two players in the conference to record three multi-point performances this season.
Cox becomes the sixth Big West Freshman of the Year for the Beach and makes it back-to-back award winners with teammate Maddy Perez garnering the honor last season. She also earned a spot on the Big West All-Freshmen Team and an All-Big West Honorable Mention.

Speaking of Maddy Perez, the sophomore earned All-Big West First Team honors for the second consecutive season. A staple on the backline, she played all but 16 minutes on the pitch for the Beach this year. The West Covina native has led the team in minutes played in both of her collegiate seasons. More than just a dominant defensive presence, Perez got involved on the offensive end scoring two goals and recording three assists on the year ranking fifth on the team with eight total points.
Julia Moore turned in a fantastic rookie campaign for Long Beach State this year. Her 1,492 minutes played was fifth most on the Beach starting all 18 matches in the midfield. The Santa Cruz native scored the first goal of her career against CSU Bakersfield and added two more assists in consecutive matches against UCSD and CSUN.
The fifth and final All-Big West honoree is Zora Standifer, who earned an Honorable Mention. The sophomore keeper began the season splitting time in net, but ultimately took over the starting role during Big West play. Logging over 938 minutes, she totaled 49 saves and owned a league-leading 0.817 save percentage. Her current 0.90 goals against average for her career ranks fifth lowest in program history.
