Dylan Dela Cruz Named Big West Defensive Player of the Week

The senior libero picks up the award for the second-straight week
IRVINE, Calif. – For the third time this season, and for the second week in a row, Long Beach State senior libero Dylan Dela Cruz has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Dela Cruz earned the honors after averaging 6.11 digs per set last week as she helped the Beach extend their winning streak to six. She opened the week with a 32-dig performance at UC Riverside, marking her second 30-plus dig showing in a week. Her 32 digs were just two shy of her career-high.
On Saturday night, Dela Cruz and the Beach played up at UC Davis where the Long Beach, Calif., native logged 23 digs. She has now tallied 17 double-figure dig performances in 18 matches, and has registered 20-plus digs on seven occasions.
On the year, Dela Cruz is averaging 4.26 digs per set, a mark that ranks her third in The Big West.
