LONG BEACH, Calif. – Devereaux Harrison has been named to Perfect Game's preseason All-American Second Team to kick off the New Year. It is his second preseason selection after earning a spot on Collegiate Baseball's prior to the holidays.
The right-hander from Vacaville is coming off a 2021 season that saw him named Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year, three Freshman All-American selections (Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, NCBWA), ABCA All-West Region Second Team, and All-Big West First Team.
Overall, Harrison tossed 34.1 innings posting a 1.57 ERA and holding opponents to a .175 opponent average. He totaled 18 appearances, recording multiple strikeouts in 14 of them totaling 42 Ks while surrendering just 12 walks. He was also one of just 23 relievers to notch double-digit saves finishing the year with 10.
His 1.57 season ERA was the lowest by any Long Beach State pitcher (minimum 27 innings) since 2016, and lowest by a freshman hurler since 1998.
Following the end of the 2021 campaign, he was invited to play with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team where he appeared in five games. In six innings of work, he surrendered just one run and three hits while striking out seven. He posted a 1.50 ERA, .167 BAA, and a 10.5 K/9.
A draft-eligible sophomore, Harrison has also been ranked as the number 154 overall draft prospect and number 83 college prospect for the 2022 MLB Draft by Perfect Game.
