Ramirez comes to the Beach after leading the Sport Performance efforts for five years at Biola University.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State has announced that Frank Ramirez has been hired to fill the vacant Director of Sports Performance, returning the Beach after a six-year absence.
"We are extremely excited to have a member of the Beach family rejoin our staff," said Jarrod Spanjer, Associate Director of Student-Athlete Wellness, Sports Medicine. "At Biola University, Frank was able to build a program from the ground up and we look to him to use the skills and knowledge he learned there to elevate the Sports Performance Program here at Long Beach State. We felt Frank's vison and leadership skills aligned with how we are trying to enhance the student-athlete experience."
Ramirez returns to the Beach after spending the last six years as the Director of Sports Performance at Biola University. Working with 17 programs during his time at Biola, Ramirez was the first head of sport performance there, developing the program from its very start as the Eagles made a transition to NCAA Division II status.
Prior to his time at Biola, Ramirez worked at Long Beach State as the program's Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2010 to 2016. During that period, Ramirez was responsible for the development of sports performance training for the Track and Field, Golf and Women's Water Polo program while assisting with many other programs at the Beach.
"I'd like to thank Andy Fee, Jarrod Spanjer and the rest of the administration for giving me the opportunity to return to Long Beach State," said Ramirez "The Beach has always been home to me and I'm excited to be a part of an athletics department that I care so much about."
