Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Big West Weekly Awards

Kashauna Williams, Nicole Hoff, and Erykah Lovett garner Player of the Week honors
IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State women's volleyball started the 2021 campaign off sweeping the Big West Conference weekly awards as Kashauna Williams took home Offensive Player of the Week Honors, while Nicole Hoff garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades, and Erykah Lovett claimed Freshman of the Week honors.
The Beach went 2-1 last week at the Boise State Invitational as they were led by junior outside hitter Kashauna Williams who earned All-Tournament Team accolades before taking home Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors. Williams earned the honors for the second time in her career and finished the week averaging 4.33 kills per set, 1.40 digs per set, 0.47 blocks per set, while hitting .217. She currently ranks 26th in the nation in kills per set and is third in the country in total kills with 65. Her season-high 25 kills versus Montana State was just one shy of her career-best.
Hoff, a sophomore libero, claimed her first-ever conference honors after logging 3.73 digs per set while directing the Beach in the back row. She recorded double-digit digs in each of the three matches including a career-high 22-dig showing against Dixie State.
Lovett made the most of her collegiate debut as the freshman outside hitter notched a double-double in each contest including a career-best 20-kill, 19-dig performance versus Dixie State. She finished the week with 3.27 kills per set, 2.67 digs per set, and 0.60 aces per set. She totaled nine aces on the week, which is good for 12th in the nation.
The Beach will be back in action this weekend hosting the Long Beach State Tournament. LBSU will take on No. 18 UCLA on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m., to kick off the tournament.
