LONG BEACH, Calif. – Executive Director of Athletics Andy Fee has announced a major hire, as Sean Ferrera joins the Long Beach State senior leadership team as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations.
"We are excited to welcome Sean and Breanna to our Beach family," said Fee. "Sean is a fantastic addition to our leadership team. He is a dynamic and talented administrator, with wide-ranging experiences at various schools. Sean will provide strong leadership to our external units and drive revenue to Beach Athletics."
Ferrera comes to the Beach with an extensive background in development and fundraising. As the Associate Athletics Director for Development, Ferrera led the revenue and donation efforts for the UNM Lobo Club, securing over 4 million dollars in premium sales over his time in Albuquerque. He organized the major giving campaigns for the Lobo Club. In that role, he also worked closely with the New Mexico ticketing, communications, marketing and sponsorship units that will be under his oversight at the Beach.
"Breanna and I are eager to join the Beach Family," said Ferrera. "Thank you to President Conoley, and to Executive Director of Athletics Fee for this opportunity to cultivate leaders and champions with Beach Athletics. Student-athletes, alumni, donors, fans & the Long Beach community can expect to get the best from me each and every day."
He started his professional career in Southern California with UCLA and worked with the Wooden Athletic Fund before moving to Oklahoma. During his time in Norman, he generated over $600,000 in new and upgraded annual gifts, and also helped to raise 1.75 million dollars in Capital Gift revenue specifically for a significant renovation of the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Ferrera then made the move to New Mexico in 2017.
In addition to his administrative experience, Ferrera also has ties to the Big West as a former student-athlete, competing in Track and Field with UC Riverside.
Ferrera will officially start his role on August 9.
