LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women's soccer has been picked as the favorite in the Big West Conference's annual preseason coaches' poll. Senior defender Kaitlin Fregulia was also named to the preseason All-Conference Team.
The Beach collected a total of 106 points and one first-place vote edging out rival and defending Big West champion Cal State Fullerton for the top spot.
The top of the poll was very close as UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara came in at a tie for third-place with 94 points receiving four first-place votes and two votes, respectively.
Fregulia is the lone Beach athlete on the preseason All-Conference Team which was also voted on by the head coaches of the Big West. The senior defender was named to the All-Big West Second Team in 2019 and has totaled four All-Conference honors including the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year.
Long Beach State will play their second and final preseason game tonight at George Allen Field against Loyola Marymount at 7:00 p.m. They open the season one week from today with a non-conference matchup at CSUN next Thursday.
